Charlotte Chamber honors local entrepreneurs
Project Managers Inc., Cottingham-Chalk & Associates Inc. and Media Evolved took top honors Tuesday night at the Charlotte Chamber’s 21st annual entrepreneur awards.
The Richardson family, owner of the Carolina Panthers, received the chairman’s award.
Project Managers, a consulting firm headed by Karen McIsaac, was honored among companies with up to 10 employees. The other finalists were Asterisk Creative Inc., a marketing communications firm headed by Rick Oppedisano, and My Team of Experts Inc., a public relations firm for small businesses headed by Patricia Pollack.
Cottingham-Chalk, a residential real estate company, received the award for companies with 11 to 35 employees. Dan Cottingham and John Chalk III founded the company. The other finalists were Bonterra Dining and Wine Room, owned by John Duncan, and Queen Associates Inc., a technology-consulting firm founded by Francis Queen.
Media Evolved, which makes CDs and DVDs, received honors for companies with 36 to 150 employees. Its founder and owner is Bill Walker. The other finalists were All American Roofing Inc., headed by Mark DeBoo, and Ameritrust Mortgage Co., headed by John Owens.
The Richardson family, led by Jerry Richardson, began pursuing a National Football League franchise for Charlotte in 1987 and won it in 1993.
About 520 people attended the event at The Westin Charlotte hotel.
